From Cancun our gateway to the Caribbean, travel through new and ancient cultures, bask on sun-splashed beaches,
explore archeological wonders, savor rich seafood and saunter down the side streets. Find out for yourself why Mexico
is such an amazing destination filled with friendly people, diverse
landscapes, rich culture and a bountiful heritage.
We begin this spectacular journey on the magical island of Isla Mujeres
where we will have the opportunity to relax and ease into the mystical
energy of the Mexico. Amidst the jungle of the Yucatan, the
World Heritage Site of Chichen Itza beckons. We spend the day climbing
some of the tallest pyramids in the world and understanding the rich
history of the Toltecs. By night we have the opportunity to view the
sound
and light spectacular at the ruins.
Next our journey takes us to the colonial walled city of Campeche. Sitting
on the shores of the Gulf of Mexico, the citizens of this town fortified their
homes against pirate attacks. Heading west we can enjoy a refreshing
tropical dip in the turquoise waters of Agua Azul and the thundering
waterfalls of Misol Ha. As we ascend into the emerald green hills of the
Ocosingo Valley, the peaceful ruins of Tonina enchant us. Here we may
absorb the tranquility, horseback ride through the foothills or delight in the
natural beauty of our surroundings.
Climbing into the highlands of Chiapas we reach the captivating village of
San Cristobal de las Casas. Here you can glimpse the truest existing remnant
of the Mayan civilization. The cobblestone streets are filled with local indigenous
villagers dressed in their traditional colorful clothing, similar to their ancient
ancestors. You have the opportunity to marvel at the awesome sheer cliffs
of the Sumidero Canyon while enjoying a thrilling boat ride. Descending into
the jungle we are surrounded by the jungle’s mystic beauty. Palenque,
one of Mexico’s largest and most beautiful Mayan jewels awaits us.
She becomes our teacher of the mysterious congruence of ancient global
civilizations and shares with us the secret pharmacopoeia of the jungle plants.
Soon the warm, the azure waters of the Caribbean welcome us. While in the
Yucatan we will relax on white sandy beaches, swim in blue seas, climb
pyramids and explore underground caves. We will discover the cliff side
ruins of Tulum that look out onto the Caribbean, beach volleyball, snorkeling
or just relaxing in a hammock.
